This is part 1 of a 2 part feature showing off the camera of the HTC One Vs the Nokia Lumia 920, this is the day time comparison.
First, let me start by saying I have taken all shots on default settings and at the full mega-pixel possible on each device, there is no point in stunting the 920 as this is not what is going to happen in real life.
I have taken each picture as close as possible to each other, i.e. same position, same height basically. I also am not a camera expert, but I like to think I know a nice shot when I see it.
Further more I am not going into features of the camera, this is a simple shootout.
In general the HTC One will take the shot just that little bit snappier than the Lumia but we are talking milliseconds here, however you can tell.
This is something I think Nokia and other makers should look at, adding in an Image Chip like the HTC One has or the HTC 8X, it just makes your shot happen that little bit quicker
In the day time scenario you will be hard pushed to notice that the HTC One only has 4mp and the images come out very clean, the Lumia 920 is a little bit softer but more natural in some shots.
In the 3rd and 4th photos, you can see that the HTC One fairs better and the Lumia 920 letting more light leak in from the top right which washes out the blacks. I’m not sure why this happened to be honest and it may well have been user error.
Where you will notice the difference is when you bring the images up onto a big screen and start to zoom in, its much more apparent that the Lumia 920 is the clear winner.
To be fair here overall its probably a tie in terms of final result, I prefer the HTC One for the much crisper look to the images but the Lumia 920 is better overall for colour and for when you want to zoom in.
So in this case I’m going to say too close to call in this test, next up is Part 2 which will be night shots
