Many of us out there are avid travelers or hikers or just all round adventure seekers and sometimes you are going to find yourself in remote parts and in trouble. Not me personally, I’m more a conquer the world via the TV remote kinda guy, but for those who are fear not, as this is the Spot Global Phone.

Satellite phones are not something that have every been nice to look or have a sexy design but you know what, they shouldn’t be either.
They should be rugged manly looking devices and the Spot is mostly that, sure its been slimmed down for the masses but it still have that cool flip up aerial so you can feel like a bad guy.
Battery life will see you talking to your friends and family from atop of some wild peak for about 4 hours and 36 on standby which is not too bad.
You can charge the Spot via an optional car adapter or an AC Adapter (really) which is very strange as you not going to really have access to much mains supply in the wild.
So it seems strange that they did not create a slimline battery or at least the ability to charge via micro USB so that you could buy your own power solution.
All the same if you are in the business of going off track which many of you are then you should seriously consider the Spot Global Phone. If nothing else you will look like those cool bad guys from the movies which is the main thing really.
Right now the Spot Global is only available to purchase in the U.S but it is coming to the EU Summer 2013, so anytime around now.
