Apple announced yesterday evening that its developer portal had in fact been hacked with sensitive but encrypted information being stolen.
Apple state in their notice that: “Sensitive personal information was encrypted and cannot be accessed,” but they go on to say that “However, we have not been able to rule out the possibility that some developers’ names, mailing address and/or email addresses may have been accessed.”
The developer portal has been down for some days leaving some developers quite annoyed. Apple stated also that developers will have their memberships extended if they were due to expire during their correction period.
Apple are going to rebuild their servers and processes to ensure this does not happen again, at least for as long as possible.
