The 79-year old electronics retailer Peats closed its last remaining shop on Dublin’s Parnell Street with the loss of 22 jobs yesterday. I remember when I was young and you needed something electronic Peats was the place to go in Dublin.
The decision was made by Chairman Ben Peat to close the last remaining store due to economic downturn and online sales:
“Unfortunately, the sector in which we operate has been disproportionately adversely affected by the economic downturn and despite the best efforts of myself and my fellow directors, including a re-modelling of the business last year, we simply cannot continue in this climate
I want to put on record my heartfelt thanks to all the staff who have worked with us over the years for their loyalty, hard work, dedication and commitment to providing the exceptional customer service which has always been Peat’s hallmark“
The retailer has urged customers with outstanding orders and other queries to contact it by email at email@example.com or at (01) 878 4057
