Instance 2.0 Beta Preview

Those of you out there with Windows Phone know full well the issues surrounding Instagram and the platform.  Daniel Gary has just released to beta testers Instance 2.0 and it’s a vastly different app to the original incarnation.

The original Itsdagram which then became Instance was more akin to the official app but 2.0 actually reminds me of the official Twitter app for Windows Phone.  The iconography is beautiful and the dull palette colours are actually very nice.

New/Updated Features:

  • Video uploads
  • Filters and boarder
  • Location support
  • New UI for both browsing and capturing
  • Manual Focus
  • Activity feed
  • Performance improvements
  • User tags on media view
  • Share to Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Flickr
  • Ability to check in on Foursquare
  • Fixes for Live tile and notifications
  • Fixes issues with hashtags on images not showing up in search
  • Implements Instagram’s latest security

Video uploads are now present and you can now also even check into Foursquare, these were very popular user requests.  Everything about this 2.0 version of the app is brand new, from the looks to the security in the back end.  Incidentally ITB reached out to Instagram who informed us that our accounts had somehow attained a bug in them from using 3rd party apps.

So no black list to speak of, just an issue of said bug and the IG system thinking we were spammers.  Thankfully that support request to IG has now fixed our accounts and our hashtags are searchable again.

Hopefully version 2.0 will release to public in free ad supported and paid no ads soon.
