Jim O’Brien was down at a secret location today for a sneak peak at the latest GTA V game from Rockstar Games. GTA V is going on sale to the public on the 17th September but Ireland’s Technology Blog had special access to see it today.
Jim got to see the game in action an experience all the gratuitous action in advance of its release date on 17th September.
The Story of GTA V
Los Santos: a sprawling sun-soaked metropolis full of self-help gurus, starlets and fading celebrities, once the envy of the Western world, now struggling to stay afloat in an era of economic uncertainty and cheap reality TV. Amidst the turmoil, three very different criminals plot their own chances of survival and success: Franklin, a former street gangster, now looking for real opportunities and serious money; Michael, a professional ex-con whose retirement is a lot less rosy than he hoped it would be; and Trevor, a violent maniac driven by the chance of a cheap high and the next big score. Running out of options, the crew risks everything in a series of daring and dangerous heists that could set them up for life.
The GTA series is synonymous with violence but also with being one of the most addictive and engrossing games you can play. It is certainly not for children as adult themes run wild through the game in addition of all the usual violence, you remember the Hot Coffee mod from a past game…right !!
GTA V will take place in the city of Los Santos and its surrounding areas. Unlike GTA: San Andreas, the city will be the only main area in the game, but will still be surrounded by countryside.
San Fierro and Las Venturas, parodies of San Francisco and Las Vegas which appeared firstly in GTA: San Andreas, will not feature in the game.
Old locations from the original San Andreas have been glimpsed in the two trailers and screenshots released so far – see below for the list of what’s in Los Santos.
The Game World Size
The map of GTA V is approximately as big as San Andreas, Red dead redemption and Liberty City together. Another figure from Rockstar is that the total map area is 5 times that of Red Dead Redemption. Red Dead Redemption’s maps was about 28 square miles or 72.52 squared kilometers. The whole map will then be around 140 square miles or 362.6 square kilometers
